15 Jan 2017

From January 29th to December 2nd, EDI were proud to host Sheena Cameron as part of our continuing focus on supporting and inspiring teachers in Qatar. Sheena is an experienced international classroom practitioner who has worked in teacher professional development and teacher training. She has authored several books bringing together some of the best classroom practises for guiding students’ language and literacy learning.

Sheena shared many practical strategies throughout her workshops, focusing on developing vocabulary, oral language, reading comprehension and writing skills. She highlighted the importance of language and literacy learning being contextual and meaningful for students.

Sheena brought her vast and very current classroom experience to her presentation through anecdotes, practical ideas and examples of student work.  These illustrated how teachers and students can work together to learn and develop literacy skills and connect language and literacy across the curriculum.
