LACES is an initiative for all new PUE educators, to build their capacity in effective, culturally responsive learning and teaching for all language learners, within Qatar Foundation Schools.
Supporting the acquisition of languages is a high priority in all our QF schools. A framework of professional learning is necessary to support all teachers in addressing this need. Part of this framework includes inducting newly arrived teachers into the specific cultural and language landscape of our schools.
This is an 8 hour face to face program that occurs across the school year, with between session application of your learning. The goal of these sessions is to support the improvement of social and academic language proficiencies of students in QF Schools, as well as provide ideas for culturally responsive pedagogies. Through participation in LACES, you will:
● Appreciate the implications our cultural perspectives have on our teaching and learning.
● Increase knowledge of effective language acquisition strategies
● Develop a shared mind-set that all learners can acquire language through intentional teaching and learning.
