Participants will gather instructional models and tools to access and engage with English Language Learners.
In this two-day workshop, participants will develop professional knowledge on issues related to second-language learning environments for English Language Learners. A focus on basic principles of second language acquisition and bilingualism/multilingualism will support participants in discovering asset-based instructional strategies for leveraging English learners’ primary languages, cultural assets, and prior knowledge. It will also emphasise using a CLIL approach (i.e. content and language integrated learning) to collaboratively plan, implement and assess instruction for content achievement and academic language proficiency simultaneously.
