This introduction to Mindfulness is a highly practical course where participants will learn how mindfulness practice can enhance and sustain personal wellbeing, and begin to adopt a mindful approach to teaching. Learning is experiential and participants will leave with a repertoire of skills that will support their ongoing practice and help them to begin to weave mindfulness into daily life. During the 90-minute sessions, participants will be skillfully guided through a series of mindfulness meditation practices and exploratory activities which have been carefully sequenced to demonstrate how to gradually settle the mind and enhance natural happiness and wellbeing. Teachers are faced with a multitude of challenges in school on a daily basis and building resilience is one of the main threads that run through the entire course. Sessions one to six focus on participant’s personal development whilst sessions seven, eight and nine focus on teaching mindfulness in the classroom. Participants will be expected to trial the activities in the classroom and spend time reflecting on their experience.
